[Fashion Files] Flower Power Pumps

Toya Wright at Noir Hotel Grey Goose Event

Happy Saturday bosses and boss chics! One of my favorite boss chics Toya Wright was spotted out with her hubby at the Noir Hotel for a Grey Goose event dressed in green & orange Christian Louboutins, green jeans, an orange clutch, and a flowy button down top. I just love this look! It exudes class and sexiness but in a fun and flirty way.

I wanted to try and recreate her look but with a twist of my own. I am all about flower prints right now and found the perfect shoe to top this off. I wanted to stick to her theme of green because it pairs well with the shoes I picked. Instead of an orange clutch, I chose a more coral color to bring out the flowers in the shoes. The shoes are Jessica Simpson, jeans are from Forever21, and the top is from LoveCulture.com.

Check out the items from my look below and let me know what you think! Are you feeling Toya’s style??

10 Years Later… Gone But NEVER Forgotten

RIP Delvin… Gone in the flesh but forever in our hearts

What’s up bosses and boss chics?! I hope everyone had a #PositiveMonday and continues to have a good week. This week will be a little more rough than usual for me because today specifically marks a life changing event for me. Many of you who read my blog or who are from my hometown know the story about  my cousin Delvin being killed when he was only nineteen years old as a result of a senseless act of violence. It all could have been avoided but things got heated up in the moment and instead of the altercation being diffused, it worsened and he was shot to death after one of his track meets his senior year.

I remember I was supposed to go with his dad to that track meet but I can’t remember why I didn’t. I do however remember where I was and exactly what I was doing when I found out the news. I remember specific details about those days that followed and how heart broken my family was to have lost one of its most lovable members. Ten years later to the date, it definitely still hurts. My family has not and will never be the same again. Delvin was a VERY outgoing, fun person and everyone around him felt his spirit. I was only thirteen when he was killed and it affected me so much, it still does. He was the big brother that I never had an he always looked out for me.

Last month his mom asked different members of our family to write a story about him from a personal experience. Just like my mom’s friend Marissa, Delvin’s mom started a scholarship fund for him and they always make memorial booklets each year. I wrote something for the booklet that summed up a few of my experiences with Delvin and wanted to share it with you guys for the blog. You can check it out after the break and just beware that it is long. RIP Delvin Lamont Hairston… forever in our hearts and never leaving our memories!

[Positive Monday] Who Run The World?

Girl's Night Out

Happy Monday bosses and boss chics!! And of course Happy Delayed Mother’s Day to all the great mother’s out there being the best they can be for their kids! First of all I had an AMAZING weekend! Actually I had an amazing last few days period. Before my weekend even started I was sent Mother’s Day flowers by a secret admirer to work. I have never been sent anything by a secret admirer and I thought that was pretty dope on whoever’s part :) THEN the next day I received a gift certificate for Mother’s Day for an hour-long full body massage and a mani and pedi from someone who I will always have love for… both gifts were unexpected but greatly appreciated!! They made me feel special, and I NEVER get Mother’s Day gifts so that really made my holiday.

Even though my weekend was great, I did have to work on Friday night and Saturday morning at my part time job so I didn’t get to do much Friday night. However after work on Saturday, I was BLESSED with the opportunity to walk with my mom in one of her good friend’s Mother/Daughter fashion show. Her friend (who has become like a big sister to me) lost her mother not even a year ago in a fatal car wreck, and she and her siblings decided to start this annual mother/daughter fashion show as a representation for their love for her. The proceeds from the show went to the Sandra Estes Scholarship Fund which will be an annual scholarship given to college students.

The fashion show was a major success and I had so much fun being in it with my mom! It was great being in an environment surrounded by women in a positive light for a change. Right after the fashion show, me and all my girls decided to go get drinks at the local Mexican restaurant and luckily it was nice enough to sit outside. I know we sat out there for a good two or three hours eating, drinking, laughing, and catching up on old times. I can’t even tell you the last time we had all been together, so this felt so good! I’m thankful to still be able to say I have the same friends that I had when I was little. That in itself is a blessing.

To wrap up my weekend, yesterday I went to church with Trey and my best friend and cousin, and afterwards spent time with my dad’s family at my grandma’s. My grandma fell and broke her tailbone about a month ago so instead of going out, we ordered food and sat around the house chopping it up. My family drives me crazy at times but I always appreciate those moments with them. There is nothing like having a family to that gets on your nerves from time to time, that’s how you know the love is real! Some people aren’t so lucky! After spending time at my grandma’s, Trey and I went to my mom’s and relaxed with her for awhile. She sent us home with SO MUCH food lol and did I say she is a bomb cook?

After a long weekend I came home and literally HIT the bed… I was so tired last night I could barely function but the weekend was well worth it! I’m glad I got to spend time with my family and ALL of my girls because that doesn’t happen too often in one weekend. I hope everyone had a great weekend as well and have a productive week to follow! Check out a few pics from my weekend below :)

Styled By Shants

Slim’s shoot with Courtney Yellock styling and makeup done by me

Happy Saturday Bosses and Boss Chics! I told you guys the other day that I had picked up a hobby of styling and doing makeup for local models in my area. Well one of the models who I went to school with hit me up earlier in the week and asked if I could help at her shoot. Of course I said yes because it’s become a fun hobby for me. This time we shot with photographer Courtney Yellock who has done MANY shoots in our area.

When I got there we decided to do a floral, flirty type of outfit, a sexy short pink dress, and then she did a look in a bathing suit in a mirror frame. I won’t post the bathing suit pics, I’ll leave that to her to post to her facebook and whatnot but I did want to share the final picture of her floral outfit which you can see above. Also below I took a close up picture of her makeup as well as a few in the pink dress.

You can check those out below and let us know what you think! Like I said I’m not really a stylist or anything, but I do have fun working with different looks to help these girls out. Hopefully I can keep it going and begin to perfect it as a craft along the way, we’ll see! Don’t forget to check out the other pics below and enjoy your weekend!

President Obama We Support Your Message

I’m sure most of you already know that President Obama has come out with an official statement expressing that he support same-sex marriages. Ever since then the Republicans have been in a frenzy, while the president may have just won over the whole LGBT community in votes. I don’t speak on politics at all because I really truly hate them. No matter how good the politician, I just feel like they all sell us somewhat of a dream and none of them can REALLY follow through with everything they promise. However, I will say that President Obama does a damn good job trying in my book! Continue reading

[Dress For Less] Target Tee Top BodyCon Dress

Xhilaration BodyCon Tee Top Dress $18

Happy Hump Day bosses and boss chics! First of all let me just tell ya’ll how I had written this WHOLE blog last night and somehow when I was done, all that was left was the picture above *sad face*. Any who, I’ve been getting numerous requests for more “look for less” type posts to help some of my viewers find items that are more budget friendly. Now before I continue just keep in mind that the clothes and things I post are usually just items I found from some of my favorite websites. It doesn’t mean I’m paying that much for any of it, it’s all just to give you guys an idea of how I make different looks based on my individual style.

On that note, you can always go out and find similar pieces like the ones I post on for much cheaper prices. However I do want to start working on more posts that are budget friendly to help you guys out. What I try to do is buy lots of simple, staple items for my closet like this blue dress above. When you have items like those, you can spice it up with different shoes and accessories to make different looks. What I usually splurge on is shoes. I’ve said numerous times that I try to base my outfit around my shoes. When you just buy the outfit you have to go out and find shoes to match, but when you already have the shoes it’s easy to go find a cheap dress or shirt to match.

The dress above can be found at Target for only $18 and it’s so easy to use for color blocking! You can pair it with yellows, greens, purple or pink and even orange to get the color block effect going. What I did was paired it with some yellow wedges from Aldo’s and a hot pink hobo bag from Forever21. Check those out below and let me know what you think of this look! Be on the look out for more posts like this as well!

Not That Girl

What’s up bosses and boss chics! I’ve started dabbling in writing poems a little bit and I guess you can say I’ve completed the first one that I would actually take seriously. Originally, I wasn’t going to post it at all because it does harbor some deep feelings for me. However, I sent it to one of the fellow bitchie chicks from Necole Bitchie’s team and she loved it, so I thought why not?

She said she could relate to it from a situation in her past, and I’m sure MANY women or girls could relate as well. The whole purpose of this blog is to inspire young girls and women in many different ways so this is no different. I’m VERY personal with my writings outside of the blog and I don’t let people read them often, so I hope you guys enjoy it and it at least reaches out to one person :) Let me know what you think!

[Fashion Files] Splurge On This: Studded Leather Vest

White Studded Leather Vest $110

What’s up bosses and boss chics? I was browsing the web and came across THE hottest vest ever! You guys know that I love the rockstar look and this vest is the epitome of that. Now the vest is a little steep at a price of $110, but we all have those certain items that we would splurge on. I think these would be one of those items for me.

Even though the vest is leather, because it’s white it can be worn any season. It would look great in the summer with studded shorts and military boots, or in the winter over a long sleeve shirt with jeans/tights and heels. I love pieces that are versatile and this is no different. The fact that it’s so expensive can sort of be overlooked to me, because I know I would get plenty of wear out of it.

Would you splurge on this vest? What key item would you splurge on to add to your wardrobe? Hit us up in the comments and leave your thoughts!

XOXO,

LaBellaBoss ♥
