Interview questionnaires are becoming my new favorite thing because they allow you to learn something out of the ordinary about some of your favorite artists and talented acts that you didn’t know before. I personally like to ask questions that will stimulate a thoughtful response to give my readers some substance. I have been following Richmond Va rapper International Illa for a few years now, although I can’t really remember how I got put on to his music. He’s a conscious rapper which I can appreciate in this day’s music, so I thought I would send him some questions to get into his head a little.

[Positive Monday] The Road Less Traveled

Taking the road less traveled in life is easier said than done. People always say they want to be different and stand out from everyone else, but taking the road less traveled is way deeper than being unique. It’s so hard to step out of the box and create your own lane in life, when no one has done the things you’re doing before. When you have a path to follow, it’s easy to see the mistakes of previous travelers and figure out ways to go further along the path and avoid the same failures.

[New Music] Crooked Smile- J Cole

I love me some Jermaine Cole!! I get so excited when he drops new music and today has been no different. He just released a new song titled “Crooked Smile” with TLC on the hook as a follow up to his hit “Power Trip” with Miguel. This song is focusing on his own physical flaws such as his teeth and thick eyebrows, while also encouraging women to focus on self confidence. Just when you thought conscious rap was dying out, J Cole comes to save the day per usual.

[Fashion Killa] Lacey Watts

What’s up bosses and boss chics! I’m going to start posting some of my favorite fashionistas regularly to add to our fashion section of The BCF. One of my favorite fashionistas, Lacey Watts as pictured above, was kind enough to answer some questions that I sent over to her for an interview. I initially started following Lacey through Necole Bitchie’s “Bitchie Chicks” group and immediately fell in love with her sense of style and free spirit. Lacey, who is from New York, and I are the same age and her daughter is the same age as Trey so we immediately clicked! May Contest Winner!

Happy Saturday bosses and boss chics! It looks like we have a winner for the contest this month! Kemoni, who is one of my favorite little fashionistas from my area, won this look with the American Flag leggings from Trixi’s Closet, a camo  jacket and black military boots. This was Kemoni’s first time entering our contest and she won! Shoutout to both her and Shatera for submitting their pics! Kemoni will be receiving a set of beaded bracelets (any choice of color) from Trixi’s Closet as her prize. We also have to give a special thanks my best friend who owns Trixi’s Closet for sponsoring our monthly contests… it’s greatly appreciated and we couldn’t do it without you!

The Game Season Finale

The season finale of The Game from last night just completely blew me away! I’m very impressed with this season and after seeing last night’s episode, I can’t wait until the next one starts! Kiera gave up her virginity to Blue and as the two get out of bed that morning, she puts on a cheerleading outfit and gives him a pep talk to help him play better in his first game. Everything starts off well between the two until the game the following day.

K Michelle vs Rasheeda: Whose Side Are You on?

I’ve been wanting to speak my mind on the beef between K Michelle and Rasheeda for quite some time now. If you follow Love & Hip Hop ATL then you know that these two started off as friends at the beginning of Season 1, but somewhere along the lines their signals got crossed and they fell out. Everyone is familiar with the story behind K Michelle and her previous relationship with Toya Carter-Wright’s current husband, Memphitz. According to K, he used to beat her and used all of her money towards getting her butt implants and fake teeth. Memphitz of course denied all allegations and if I remember correctly there was a lawsuit involved, but we never heard anything else from it.

2013 Mother/Daughter Fashion Show [+ Pics!]

Last weekend for Mother’s Day I was honored to have the chance to style my own “Boss Chic Walk” in the annual Mother/Daughter Fashion Show given by the Sandra M Estes Scholarship Foundation locally. The scholarship is intended for single mothers attending nursing school to help with their college tuition. A good friend of mine, Marissa, started this fashion show last year in honor of her mother, where women and their daughters coordinate outfits and strut on stage. The little girls who are in the show every year always steal the spotlight with their diva attitudes and fierce walks!

In my personal section, I had ten models that I chose to walk and wear looks that I styled myself. I got some of the pieces from my own closet and some were found while thrifting. Other items came from some of the models themselves. They were all such a big help and so cooperative in the fast paced environment. I couldn’t be more thankful! All of the accessories for my part of the show came from Trixi’s Closet, who graciously let me use anything they had without hesitation. The different looks were put together with Trixi’s Closet jewelry in mind to show how versatile the pieces are. Not to mention to showcase how dope my style is! LOL jk or am I? :)
