[Music Mania!!] Suite 404 x Miloh Smith

I’m sitting here trying to contain myself from jumping out of my seat as I write this blog post from excitement about how DOPE this artist is! My twitter boo Ruth is always sending me DJ mixes or telling me about new artists that I need to be up on because we both are extreme music heads. When I say this chick Miloh Smith is the SHIT, I mean that! Ruth hit me up the other day like “You have got to hear this new artist, I haven’t heard anything like her before and I know you’re gonna love it!”, so I couldn’t wait to play it through and see what it was about.

OMG when I listened to this the first time my little heart got happy. Understand how happy good, unique makes me… there’s no feeling like it. Miloh’s sound is mellow, soulful, raw, and she can SING. Not to mention that she’s actually singing/flowing about subjects of substance which is even better. I don’t have any details on her background as of yet but please I will be doing my research.  Miloh just became my favorite new artist! [Boss Chic Interview] A Chat with Jazmyn

What’s up team?? I’m so excited to reveal to you all my new brilliant, creative, & FLY assistant Jazmyn! I had been following Jazmyn for quite some time on twitter and IG and immediately fell in love with her sense of style and her individuality. You know I’m all about being different, standing out, and doing your own thing so of course Jazmyn naturally caught my eye. Well come to find out, like myself Jazmyn is an Aquarius to the T which explains why we have so much in common and both follow the beat of our own drums.

Then awhile later Jazmyn released a few spoken word poems that made me love her even more. I’ve always been interested in the arts and wanted to dabble in poetry myself, but it’s just not something that works for me lol. However, Jazmyn has IT. Whatever IT is can be found in her. There’s just no other way to put it. Every time I hear one of her poems I’m captivated from beginning to end, and she leaves me in awe. I seriously admire anyone with an artistic talent, well GIFT is better suited I believe.

I sat down with Jazmyn last week and got in her head a little about what makes her who she is, what influenced her poetry, and what she wants in life. Check out excerpts from our conversation below as well as a gallery of some of Jazmyn’s different looks (one of the many reasons I think she’s so dope!). Hope you enjoy, we had fun in the process :)

Boss Chic Rih Debuts River Island & MAC Collections

What’s up bosses and boss chics! Today is our girl Rihanna’s 25th birthday! While she’s out in Hawaii living the good live, I’m stuck at work lol. I would trade places with her best friend Mel any day, I mean Rih is already my best friend in my head as is :)

Not only is Rihanna celebrating her birthday, but I’m sure she’s also celebrating all these new endeavors she has going on. Rihanna debuted her collection with River Island this past Friday at London’s Fashion Week which will be released on March 5th. On top of that, she just announced on her Instagram that she is releasing her own collection with MAC! How exciting is that for both her and her fans? Now I will say that some of Rih’s pieces for the River Island collection are a bit ratchet lol, but these are of her personal taste and we know she can pull off anything! However, from what I can see I know I definitely will be making a few purchases from her MAC line!

Beyonce’s Life Is But A Dream

I know you guys have been waiting on me to post my thoughts on Beyonce’s HBO documentary that aired Saturday night; and I know you guys know that I loved it lol. I made sure I was in front of the TV and did not miss a beat of that documentary! I also watched her interview with Oprah, but I just felt like it couldn’t compare to the documentary itself.

February 2012 Boss Chic Of The Month

I wanted to start doing a Boss Chic Of The Month every month to show love to young women and girls who are out there doing their thing. Well this month I wanted to bring attention to a special girl in my very own life. My little cousin Kendra, who will be 16 in March, is probably one of the smartest people I know. People have always said I’m smart, but this girl has me beat.

I recently found out that Kendra is ranked number 3 in her sophomore class of 276 students. Not only that but she has a GPA of 4.5! It’s amazing to see a young girl her age working so hard towards her education in a world where teenage pregnancy, drug use, and alcoholism is so common. Kendra has never been the partying type, for the most part she’s a pretty quiet girl. But at the same time, she’s not a follower by any means. She walks her own path.

I asked her what she plans on doing when she graduates from high school. She told me that she was thinking about going into pharmacy and studying at UNC Charlotte. I’m sure whatever she does she will succeed. I think it’s great that there are still young girls out there who exemplify respectable behavior and don’t do the norm just because it’s what everyone else is doing.

I’m excited to see what path she takes in life and there are other young women out there as well that I keep my eyes on. I can only tell you to stay true to yourselves and be the boss chics that you are!
