Ashanti is back and ain’t playing no games with her new single “Never Should Have”. When Ashanti first hit the scene, I was a major fanatic! I bought her album on the release day and played it to death until I lost it. It’s nice to see her back in the game because she is definitely one of the best songwriters hands down. All of her songs consist of lyrics that you can actually feel.

It’s no different with this new song as she sings about a past love and heartbreak. I’m not gonna lie, I had to let this one grow on me but after listening to or three times, I like it. Now that I’ve seen the actual visual for myself, I REALLY like it! She really captured the emotions behind the song and put them on perfect display with this video. [New Video] Body Party- Ciara

OMG Ciara is back!! She just gave me complete life and made me whole again lol! First of all I’ve loved Ciara since day one and played the mess out of her first album. I’ve been waiting on her to make a comeback for awhile and I knew that she had a hit on her hands with “Body Party” from jump. I’ve listened to this song so many times it makes no sense!

The visual for the hit just premiered on 106 & Park today and it is FIRE! I loved everything about it from the dancing (which I knew she was going to KILL) to the affectionate display of her relationship with Future. I definitely love seeing them as a couple, and they looked so cute the video! But my real focus was on her dancing and how sick her body is. The girl has skills, you cannot deny that! Just watch for yourself after the break lol. Let me know what you think!

[Boss Chic Alert] Freddy is FIERCE

I’m so excited because someone in this world cares about my little humble opinion enough to ask me for a review on good music. Dope right? I got an email earlier this week with links to some new music by an up and coming female artist named Freddy Hefner. She’s a 22 year old Los Angeles native and also a graduate of St John’s University. Yay for a beauty with brains! After listening to the two singles, I’m already a fan! She calls herself a “Strapper” meaning a singer/songwriter/rapper all in one, and it definitely is showcased in her work.

Freddy has a really unique voice and the lyrics and flow of her raps are unmatched. I really like her style and what she has to offer because the content of her music actually had a meaning. From her music I get a vibe that she’s raw and real, yet still classy and sophisticated. I’m excited to see what she has in store for us in the future and I will be checking for her new music. Check out her two singles below titled “The Come Up” and “Imaginary Friend” and let us know what you think!

I am always here for Beyonce’ tea. Always. I love this woman! But you knew that. She just released her new Pepsi commercial titled “Mirrors” where she is seen slayingggg from her past life. She mirrors her younger self by imitating the dance moves from her old videos and of course she kills it! The song that’s heard playing in the background is a snippet of her new single “Grown Woman”. It sounds like it’s gonna be a banger and I can’t wait to hear the full version!!

So Cassie makes music to numb your brain and I’m not sure how I feel about this. Man I LOVED everything about Cassie when she came out with “Me & U”. Granted she wasn’t the best singer but her style and looks made up for her lackluster performances. Well it’s been almost 7 years since she dropped that single and we haven’t had a hit from her since. Now Cassie is set to release her new mixtape titled Rockabye Baby on April 11th. She and the likes of Diddy and Rick Ross have been promoting this mixtape for a few weeks now, hyping it up to be a mixtape masterpiece.

Cassie just released the video for the first song from the mixtape called “Numb” but I’ll let you be the judge of it. Let’s just say that there might be a reason that Cassie hasn’t had a hit in years. I don’t think any amount of money Diddy has can make music work for her. She needs to stick with modeling and fashion because if she EVER came out with a clothing line, I’d be her best customer! Check out the video after the break and post your thoughts in the comments! [New Video] French- Miloh Smith

So I told ya’ll that Miloh Smith was the truth right? She just released the video for her song “French” which is about the sensuality of a French kiss and where it can lead. Let me just say that the black and white visual and concept were extremely creative and it’s easy to see that the director has an eye for all things beautiful. However, I was completely thrown off guard by the fact that the muses in the video were all women!

Being the open minded person that I am, I really liked the video. I could have done without the nudity but I understood where she was coming from. The most sensual element in the world is the body of a woman, so what better way to showcase the subject of the song than with women kissing and feeling each other up? Of course this has raised my eyebrows in question of her sexuality lol, but I really do believe this was just the creative direction she chose to represent the meaning of the song. [Lyrical Lesson] Have Rappers Gone Too Far?

Finally someone is standing against degrading, disrespectful rap lyrics in the industry and I ain’t mad one bit! I’m sure you all have heard about the radio station that has pulled Rocko’s new song “You Don’t Even Know It” from their playlists due to Rick Ross’ ignorant line about slipping someone a Molly. The lyrics specifically say, “Put Molly all in that champagne, you don’t even know it. I took her home and enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it”. Umm excuse me?? I didn’t even realize this until today and I’ve heard the song on the radio several times. Usually if the radio is on I just let whatever play because it’s edited, but clearly I need to listen a little more closely for the sake of my own child.

[Music Mania!!] Suite 404 x Miloh Smith

I’m sitting here trying to contain myself from jumping out of my seat as I write this blog post from excitement about how DOPE this artist is! My twitter boo Ruth is always sending me DJ mixes or telling me about new artists that I need to be up on because we both are extreme music heads. When I say this chick Miloh Smith is the SHIT, I mean that! Ruth hit me up the other day like “You have got to hear this new artist, I haven’t heard anything like her before and I know you’re gonna love it!”, so I couldn’t wait to play it through and see what it was about.

OMG when I listened to this the first time my little heart got happy. Understand how happy good, unique makes me… there’s no feeling like it. Miloh’s sound is mellow, soulful, raw, and she can SING. Not to mention that she’s actually singing/flowing about subjects of substance which is even better. I don’t have any details on her background as of yet but please I will be doing my research.  Miloh just became my favorite new artist!
