Throwback Thursday: Lights, Camera, Action!

Mr Cheeks & 2Chains

Mr Cheeks & 2Chains

Happy Thursday #teambosschics! I was listening to a throwback mix on the radio this morning and how about “Lights, Camera, Action” came on!! I hadn’t heard that song in forever and a day and that used to be my jam!

As we were listening to it my boyfriend brings to my attention that Mr. Cheeks is like the 2Chainz from the prior generation. He had the long dreads, wore the chains, and had that music that made you want to dance or stunt in the club. When you put a pic of the two side by side, they definitely favor as well!

Do you agree that 2Chainz is like the modern day Mr. Cheeks? Also check out the throwback video of the week after the break!

XOXO,

[Music Headz] #TBT Sleigh Ride- TLC

tlcsleighride

Way back when The Boss Chic Files was run under blogger and it was free, I used to post a music video every Thursday for the throwback of the week. However, once I updated my domain to WordPress there was a $60 charge per year just to even have access to post videos #bananas!

Any way, after going back and forth trying to decide if it was worth the upgrade, I went ahead and added the feature to the blog so the #throwbackthursday posts will be back in effect each week! Since Christmas is only 5 days away, I wanted to make today’s post a Christmas song of course. “Sleigh Ride” by TLC will always be on of my favorite songs for the holiday season! I love TLC period, but this song is just a feel good classic that makes me want to dance and have fun.

Check out the video after the break; even though the quality isn’t that great, it’ll still put you in the holiday spirit!

XOXO,
LaBellaBoss ♥

[Throwback Thursday] Moment Of Silence

What’s up bosses and boss chicks! It’s been forever since I did a post for #ThrowbackThursday but now that I’ve gotten more settled it’s time to get back on track. I wanted to do a video this week to bring focus to the injustices of the world and I thought of the perfect song. I’ve always been a huge Nas fan, he was my first hip hop crush.

This song “Just A Moment” was such a powerful song when it came out. I’ve always loved how outspoken Nas has been about issues of the world. With all the backlash around us right now behind Trayvon Martin, the presidential candidacy, and all the other unjust acts going on in the world this song was perfect for the throwback of the week. Hope you guys enjoy it and stay bossy :)

XOXO,
LaBellaBoss ♥

I didn’t know until after she passed that she modeled before she became the powerhouse singer that she was, but the reasons are so obvious! She was gorgeous! /divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”You’d have to be living under a complete sheet of rock to have not heard the news of Whitney’s passing, as she was found dead just the night before the Grammy’s at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. I’m not here to go into the details of her death or any of that, I just wanted to show my respect for what I consider to be the biggest voice ever. I’ve never heard any other female who could hit the notes that she did and so gracefully. She never missed a beat or a note in her hayday, and no other voice could even begin to compare to hers./divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”Instead of doing a post of one of her old videos since I know they’ve been showing them on tv constantly this week, I decided to do a post on one of her old performances instead. That way we could actually see for ourselves just how great of a singer she was, not only on recorded songs but also live. Below you can find her Superbowl performance from 1991 as she sings the National Anthem like no one else could ever do. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this sung in any better way!/divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”Check the video out below, and make sure you keep Miss Houston’s family, friends, and fans in your prayers! The industry and world have really lost a great thing in Whitney… she paved the way for so many other singers! RIP Whitney Houston… the best to ever do it!/divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”XOXO,br /LaBellaBoss ♥br /br /a name=’more’/a/divbr /div style=”text-align: center;”/divdiv style=”text-align: center;”iframe allowfullscreen=”" frameborder=”0″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/YHmdu_I_0zI” width=”560″/iframe/divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //div

[Throwback Thursday] Sunshine- Lil Flip

div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2pJ0zNL-awU/TxhipvdVlfI/AAAAAAAAB8I/QSulMYKxL-8/s1600/lilflip.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”img border=”0″ nfa=”true” src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2pJ0zNL-awU/TxhipvdVlfI/AAAAAAAAB8I/QSulMYKxL-8/s1600/lilflip.jpg” //a/divdiv align=”center”/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”Who remembers Lil’ Flip?? Man it’s been like eight years since we heard anything from him! In 2004 he came out seemingly ready to make a steady career out of rap when he dropped two singles in one year. The first was “Game Over” which I absolutely loved. The Pacman beat was hot and the remix was even better. Then he dropped “Sunshine” with a chick named Lea which I also loved./divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”"Sunshine” was a pretty big hit for Lil’ Flip landing at #2 on both the Billboard Hot Ramp;B/Rap Songs as well as Billboard Hot 100. It went on to become his most successful single to date, which isn’t saying much since we haven’t heard much from him since then. This song came on my pandora last night and instantly brought back memories from my freshman year in high school! I love when certain songs take me back to certain times in my life./divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”Were you a fan of this single back in ’04? What memories does it bring back to you? Leave a comment and let us know! [Throwback Thursday] Hit Em Up Style

br /div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y7Fe4pclJEM/Tw8pWE4_phI/AAAAAAAAB68/3hDwT6GW7Os/s1600/blu_cantrell.jpg” imageanchor=”1″img border=”0″ kba=”true” src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y7Fe4pclJEM/Tw8pWE4_phI/AAAAAAAAB68/3hDwT6GW7Os/s1600/blu_cantrell.jpg” //a/div br /div align=”center”With all the hype surrounding Beyonce’ and Jay-Z’s newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, I thought what better way to go about #ThrowbackThursday than with a song by none other than Blu Cantrell! Who remembers her debut song from 2001 “Hit Em Up Style (Oops!)”?? I used to love this song!/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”I remember this coming out during my annual summer trip with my dad. We were either in Myrtle Beach or Florida, I can’t remember, but they used to play it constantly. Since I was young I’ve always been a music head, and I pretty much can call whenever someone will be a one hit wonder or not. Not to be mean, but I figured she would be because she didn’t give me any lasting impressions that made me want to know more about her. However, the song was very catchy!/divdiv align=”center”a name=’more’/abr //divdiv align=”center”Since we mentioned Bey and Jay, supposedly Blu (born Tiffany Cobbs) used to date Jay-Z before Beyonce’, and it’s even rumored that Beyonce’ broke them up. Do ya’ll believe that? She does kind of resemble Bey lol./divdiv align=”center”br /You can check out the video below and feel free to leave a comment with your opinion! It’s always good to hear what you all think about everything posted here :) /divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”em”Hey ladies when your man wanna get buck wild, just throw back the hit em up style… spend it to the last dime for all his hard crimes”/em lol now that’s #bawse/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”XOXO,/divdiv align=”center”LaBellaBoss ♥br /br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”iframe allowfullscreen=”" frameborder=”0″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/LMOKlXfXn50″ width=”420″/iframe/divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //divdiv style=”text-align: center;”br //div

[Throwback Thursday] Mo To Tha, E To Tha!

div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”a href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cDZtFatDX6Q/TwXMHmyTwrI/AAAAAAAAB3E/aQQEy8NULkQ/s1600/moesha.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”img border=”0″ height=”320″ rea=”true” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cDZtFatDX6Q/TwXMHmyTwrI/AAAAAAAAB3E/aQQEy8NULkQ/s320/moesha.jpg” width=”259″ //a/divdiv align=”center”/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”So I just almost hyperventilated looking at old episodes of Moesha on youtube! OMG this was and still is my absoulte all time favorite show in the world right along with Sister Sister. When I lived in Virginia Beach back in ’08,nbsp;reruns of Moesha used to come on Nogginnbsp;and I literally used to record each one every single day and go home and watch them. No matter how many times I had seen the reruns, I still watched Moesha every single day lol. At the time I was like 19 and you would think the show had just come out the way I was addicted to it./divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”I used to do the same with Sister Sister. It would come on every morning when I was getting ready for work and school in the past few years, and I would watch every single episode. These two shows were my abosulte favorites when I was younger, so when they started coming back on tv as reruns when I got older, I was estatic. Well now I’m back at square one because Moesha doesn’t come on at all, and Sister Sister only comes on the gospel channel on Saturday mornings./divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”For #ThrowbackThursday I decided to do something different and post one of my favorite episodes of Moesha. In this episode she had snuck off to a pajama party with her friends and as usual she ended up getting caught. I swear Frank and Dee used to stay on Mo, she couldn’t get away with SHAT! Lol and I love Kim and Neicy to pieces, they were so funny! There’s also an appearance in this episode from a young Usher.. he was so cute!/divdiv align=”center”br /Check out the full episode below, broken down into two parts. Did you used to be a big Moesha fan? And am I the only one STILL mad at how they just cut the show with a cliff hanger for an ending? #salty lol/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”XOXO,/divdiv align=”center”LaBellaBoss ♥br /br /a name=’more’/a/divbr /div align=”center”iframe allowfullscreen=”" frameborder=”0″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/povtONxowqk” width=”420″/iframebr /br /iframe allowfullscreen=”" frameborder=”0″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZPbuWytyUms” width=”420″/iframebr /br //div

Me and my girls were thinking about going out ornbsp;doing something together to bring in the new year.nbsp;/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”Of course partying for New Years Eve comes with certain traditions. There’s the usual black, gold and silver dresses. The glimmer and glitz found with glitter, sparkles, and shiny piecesnbsp;of clothing. Thenbsp;drinks and the people. But most importantly the music. You can’t have a good New Year’s Eve party if the music isn’t right! Fornbsp;#ThrowbackThursday I wanted tonbsp;post a song that would make you want to party. This one definitely gets me in the mood to celebrate the new year… makes me want to party like it’s 1999!nbsp;(even though I was only ten then lol)nbsp;/divdiv align=”center”br //divdiv align=”center”nbsp;Check out the throwback video of the day below!
