[Boss Chic Contest] May’s Contestants

What’s up bosses and boss chics! I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve blogged, but I recently moved and had to get my internet connection transferred to my new house. Everything is good now and I’m glad to be back! As you all know, the Boss Chic Contest for the month of May is centered around camo and American flag print to show honor for Memorial Day at the end of the month.

This time we have two entries for the contest and I must say that I’m loving both ladies’ looks! I have been wearing a lot of camo and American flag print myself (as seen above), so this contest definitely appeals to my personal style. I’ve posted pics of the two contestants below and also posted a poll where you can submit your vote for your favorite look! You have until this Friday to get your votes in so spread the word and pick your winner! Whoever gets the most votes will receive a gift from Trixi’s Closet which will be announced later! [May OOTD Contest] American Flags & Camo

What’s up! It’s that time again for our monthly contest and since Memorial Day is this month, the contest for May is centered around American flag print and camo. These are two of my favorite prints and I think they go very well together. I just bought a pair of camo boots and just got a pair of American flag tights from Trixi’s Closet as well. I can’t wait to wear them together!

For this month’s contest, send in a pic of yourself in either camo or American flag print (you can do both!) to thebosschicfiles@gmail.com by May 15th. I will post the contestants a few days later and give everyone until Memorial Day to vote! The winner will get a gift from Trixi’s Closet and of course our readers will vote for the winner. [Fashion Files] Springtime Leather

Who said you can’t wear leather during the Spring and Summer seasons? They lied! While most people steer away from leather in the hotter months, it’s a trend that’s really starting to pick up this year. However to pull off the look during this time of year, you can’t wear it like you would in the winter. Cutout leather pieces and colored leather are good ways to add the look into your wardrobe for warm weather. Pairing the pieces with bright colors, light fabrics, and cute sandals help keep the overall look in season without appearing hot and stuffy.

Below I’ve put together a look that I thought would be dope for the spring/summer months, using a cutout leather jacket and booties. The jacket was found at NastyGal.com and is to DIE for butttt it will cost you $318 lol. Don’t worry I won’t be buying it either, but I’m sure you can find similar pieces online if you check the right places. I would tuck the tank top below into the skirt and accessorize with silver jewelry to complete the look. [Fashion Files] Men’s Graphic Tees by Xochi

My male readers are always getting on me about not blogging about men’s fashion enough, so I have a treat for them today. Xochi is a dope men’s clothing line based out of LA that sells graphic tees, polo shirts, and denim. Their graphic tees are specifically unique because they epitomize the “All-American” guy. Their tees are inspired by things their team finds around them, the cities they live in, movies they watch, music they listen to, and even the animalistic characteristics they see within themselves.

That definitely explains the creativity behind their designs! For example the “Wolfman” tee is a wolf’s head, but the body is dressed in a suit with hands adjusting the tie. It’s the tiny details like those that separate the big brands from those that struggle. I live for clothing items that can’t be found anywhere else, so this brand is definitely a good look. OPI Euro Centrale Collection

What female doesn’t love nail polish? Don’t worry I’ll wait! I look forward to the different nail lacquer collections that come out seasonally, especially from OPI and Essie’s. OPI is on to it’s next European collection which has become one of my favorites after releasing their Holland and Germany lines last year. The Euro-Centrale collection is no different, with it’s wide range of bold and pastel shades.

 Some of my favorite colors in this line are OY-Another Polish Joke!, My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours, Can’t Find My Czechbook, You’re Such A BudaPest, and OPI… Eurso Euro. I have to get these! I usually buy a couple of shades from each OPI collection that’s released, but I’m seriously thinking about checking EBay or Amazon for this full collection so I can have them all. They’re all so different, it’s hard to only pick a few! Are you feeling the latest OPI line? Which shades are made for you?

[Fashion Files] The Best Tanks Ever!

I LOVE Mossimo tank tops! These are the only tank tops that I buy now! I used to be hard on Old Navy’s but I have to get an extra small for them to fit me just right, and they still don’t stretch as much as I like. On the other hand, these Mossimo tanks fit perfectly! Now I will say that I have a very small waist in comparison to my hips, however my stomach is far from flat. This is one of my main insecurities, but you’ll never know (wait I just told you lol) because I’m constantly getting compliments about how tiny I am. It’s an illusion and I owe it to well fitted clothing!

I don’t think people realize how much the way your clothes fit can make or break your outfit. Wearing tanks that are too small can make you look like you have no boobs and a muffin top. You definitely don’t want to squeeze into them! At the same time, a tank that’s too big just looks sloppy and tacky. I hate when my tanks are too big because I constantly have to fool with the straps to keep my bra covered. So if you’re looking for the perfect tank for the spring and summer, definitely stop by Target and cop you a few Mossimo tanks! They’re only $8 a piece but sometimes you can catch them on special. They have plenty of designs to choose from and they are in stock year round. Thank me later!
